Bangla Academy chairman Professor Shamsuzzaman Khan has died of Covid-19 on Wednesday. 

He breathed his last around 2:00pm while undergoing treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital.

A Bangla Academy source earlier said the chairman was placed on life support on Sunday after his condition deteriorated.

He was hospitalised with coronavirus infection.

Prof Shamsuzzaman Khan was appointed as the chairman of Bangla Academy for the next three years on June 29, 2020.
