A Dhaka court on Tuesday placed suspended member of an Awami League subcommittee Helena Jahangir on a fresh 8-day remand.
The remand was granted by the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court after a hearing.
Earlier on Monday night, members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have arrested two associates, Hajera Khatun and Sanaullah Nuree, of Helena Jahangir.
A total of five cases were filed against Helena Jahangir under the Liquor and Narcotics Control Act, Wildlife Protection Act, Special Powers Act, Digital Security Act and Telecommunications Act. She was arrested from her Gulshan residence on Thursday night.
Helena, the founder and CEO of Jayayatra Television, became a member of the AL Central Subcommittee on Women Affairs on January 18.
Helena was arrested a few days after she was relieved of the membership of Awami League’s women affairs subcommittee on charges of breaching disciplines of the party.
