Dhaka's rail communication with Chittagong was restored today seven hours after a freight train derailed in Tongi area under Gazipur City Corporation.

The rail links were restored around 5:00pm, Airport Railway Station master Md Halimuzzaman said.

Three bogies of a Dhaka-bound of freight train veered off the track in the area around 10:00am, the station master earlier said.

Soon after the accident, the communication of Dhaka with Chattogram halted.

However, no causality was reported.
