Global COVID-19 cases top 240.86, deaths pass 4.9m

The overall global Covid-19 caseload has topped 240.86 million, while the deaths have surged to more than 4.9 million, according to data from the worldometer.

In its latest update on Saturday (Oct 16, 1pm Bangladesh Time), the data revealed that the current global caseload and death toll stood at 240,862,320 and 4,905,245 respectively.

Besides, a total of 218,122,627 people recovered worldwide from the disease, according to data from the worldometer.

A total of 220 countries and territories and two international conveyances have been infected in the deadly disease.

In USA, 45,738,585 people have tested positive for the virus. Of them, 743,880 people have died and 35,304,097 people have recovered.

In Brazil, 21,627,476 people have tested positive for coronavirus. Of them, 602,727 have died and 20,773,826 recovered.

In India, 34,053,573 people have tested positive for coronavirus. Of them, 452,010 people have died and 33,399,961 people have recovered.

In Mexico, 3,749,860 have been diagnosed with coronavirus. Of them, 284,008 died and 3,108,714 recovered from the disease.

In Russia, 7,925,176 people have tested positive for Covid-19. Of them, 221,313 have died and 6,960,024 people have recovered.

In Peru, 2,188,351 people have tested positive for Covid-19. Of them, 199,792 have died.

In Indonesia, 4,233,014 people have been diagnosed with COVID-19. Of them, 142,889 patients have died and 4,070,807 people have recovered.

In UK, 8,361,651 people have been diagnosed with COVID-19. Of them, 138,379 patients have died and 6,839,129 people have recovered.

In Italy, 4,712,482 people have tested positive for coronavirus. Of them, 131,503 people have died and 4,502,457 people have recovered. 

In Colombia, 4,978,689 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus. Of them, 126,796 people have died and 4,822,045 people have recovered.

In Iran, 5,765,904 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus. Of them, 123,695 patients have died and 5,294,981 patients have recovered. 

In France, 7,080,375 people have tested positive for coronavirus. Of them, 117,245 patients have died and 6,872,368 patients have recovered.

In Argentina, 5,271,361 people have tested positive for Covid-19. Of them, 115,660 patients have died and 5,137,618 people have recovered.

In Germany, 4,377,899 people have been diagnosed with COVID-19. Of them, 95,416 patients have died and 4,134,100 have recovered.

In South Africa, 2,915,560 people have been diagnosed with COVID-19. Of them, 88,562 patients have died and 2,804,065 people have recovered.

In Spain, 4,984,386 patients have been diagnosed with coronavirus. Of them, 86,974 have died and 4,825,794 patients have recovered. 

In Poland, 2,933,834 people have been diagnosed with COVID-19. Of them, 76,067 patients have died and 2,672,656 people have recovered.
 
In Bangladesh, 1,564,881 people have tested positive for coronavirus. Of them, 27,746 people died and 1,526,891 patients have recovered.

The World Health Organization declared the coronavirus crisis a pandemic on March 11 last year.
