A Gazipur court placed an accused on a three-day remand in connection with the killing of Dr Sayeeda Khaleque, a retired professor of the Institute of Nutrition and Food Science of Dhaka University.
Gazipur Metropolitan Court Judge Mehdi Pabel issued the order after the investigating officer of the case Kashimpur Police Station SI Dipankar Roy had produced Md Anwarul Islam with a 10-day remand plea.
Prof Dr Sayeeda Khaleque was recovered in Gazipur on Friday morning, three days after she had gone missing.
It is learnt that Sayeeda Khaleque was constructing a new house at the university's residential area in South Panishail under Ward No. 1 of Gazipur City Corporation. She was abducted from there on Wednesday last.
Anwarul Islam, a contractor of the residential project, was arrested as a suspect in connection with the murder of Sayeeda Khaleque, said police.
