The government has picked 10 renowned personalities and one institution for the highest state award "Swadhinata Padak 2022" (Independence Award) in recognition of their outstanding contributions to their respective fields.
This information was disclosed through a notification signed by Additional Secretary (Committee and Economic) Md Zillur Rahman Chowdhury today (March 15).
Six recipients of the award -- Ilias Ahmed Chowdhury, Col Khandoker Nazmul Huda (posthumous), Abdul Jalil, Siraj Uddin Ahmed, Md Sohiuddin Biswas (posthumous), Sirajul Haque (posthumous) -- have been named for their contributions to the Independence Liberation War in 1971.
Prof Dr Konok Kanti Borua and Prof Dr Md Kamrul Islam will receive the award for their contribution in the medicine sector; Md Amir Hamza for literature; and Mainul Hossain for architecture.
Bangladesh Wheat and Maize Research Institute (BWMRI) will receive the award in the research and training category. The government has picked nine renowned personalities and an organization for the highest state award "Swadhinata Padak 2021" (Independence Award) in recognition of their outstanding contributions to their respective fields.
