The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 62 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs during anti-drug operations in different areas of the capital city over the past 24 hours till 6:00 am Tuesday (May 17).

Detectives and the law enforcers jointly made the arrest and seized illegal drugs from their possession.

The DMP seized 5,429 Yaba tablets, 34.2gm (34-puria) of heroin, 23.295kg of hemp, 10 bottles of phensidyl,  eight cans of beer, and 2gm ice (crystal meth) from their possessions, a DMP statement said.

Being informed, members of Detectives and Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) conducted a 24-hour long raid and detained the drug trades from various places, it also said. 

According to the statement, a total of 45 cases have been filed against the detained persons under the Narcotics Control Act.
