A 100-year-old man died as a fire broke out in Dhum Para area of Kalsi Dighi under EPZ police station of Chattogram.

The victim was identified as Abdul Karim Hawlader. 

Newton Das, senior station officer of Agrabad Fire Service, told banglanews24 that fire broke out in several shops and houses on the banks of Kalsi Dighi in EPZ around 11:00 am on Wednesday (May 18). 

Later, 11 vehicles of 3 fire-fighting units doused the fire, he said. 

The cause of the fire could not be known immediately, he also said.

The old man died in this accident, the official said, adding details would be revealed after the investigation.
