The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 83 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs during anti-drug operations in different areas of the capital city over the past 24 hours till 6:00 am Saturday (May 22).

Detectives and the law enforcers jointly made the arrest and seized illegal drugs from their possession.

The DMP seized 8,766 Yaba tablets, 30kg 815gm hemp, 147gm 56 puria of heroin, 955 can of bear and 104 injectable drug from their possessions, a DMP statement said.

Being informed, members of Detectives and Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) conducted a 24-hour long raid and detained the drug trades from various places, it also said. 

According to the statement, a total of 62 cases have been filed against the detained persons under the Narcotics Control Act.
