Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will formally inaugurate the long-awaited 6.15km Padma Bridge on June 25.
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader came up with the disclosure while talking to the journalists after a meeting with the premier at Ganabhaban in the capital on Tuesday.
The prime minister decided not to change the name of the Padma bridge, Quader said.
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Bridge Authority (BBA) has already formed 18 preparatory committees and sub-committees to celebrate the completion of the mega project.
On May 11, Obaidul Quader, also Awami League general secretary, said the progress of the main bridge implementation work is about 98 percent, while river engineering 92 percent, carpeting of the main bridge 91 percent and overall bridge project implementation work 93.5 percent.
On May 19, Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam said the much-awaited Padma bridge will be inaugurated at the end of June.
However, the inauguration date has not been fixed yet, he also said.
