Five people were killed and five others injured as a truck collided head-on with a human hauler, locally known as Leguna, at Ramarchar area on Dhaka-Rajshahi highway in Solonga thana of Sirajganj early Thursday (May 26).

The deceased were identified as Makbul Hossain, 35, Monir Hossain, 34, Makbul Hossain, 35, Abdul Halin and Haydar Ali, 40.

Lutfor Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Hatikumrul Highway police station, confirmed the matter.

The stone-laden truck collided head-on with the Leguna in the area at 2:00am, leaving three dead on the spot and seven others injured, he said. 

The injured people were taken to a local hospital where duty doctor declared two of them dead on arrival, the OC added.  

Police seized the truck and the Leguna, he said.
