Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) authorities will provide digital number plates with QR Code to two lakh rickshaws within six weeks.
DNCC mayor Atiqul Islam came up with this information at a press conference on ‘Smart Bangladesh-Smart Hut’ at Hotel Sheraton in Banani in the capital.
He said “DNCC is conducting various activities through digital platform. The activities will increase gradually. Now, most of the rickshaws are plying in DNCC areas illegally. Within six weeks, digital plates will be attached to rickshaws to bring those under legal framework.”
All information will be given in QR code. At first, two lakh rickshaws will get digital number plates in the capital, the mayor added.
Atiqul Islam also said: “The number plates will be procured from abroad. So, it will not be possible to copy. We will understand by touching the plates whether it is copied or not.”
