The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 40 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs during anti-drug operations in different areas of the capital city over the past 24 hours till 6:00 am Thursday (July 7).

Detectives and the law enforcers jointly made the arrest and seized illegal drugs from their possession.

The DMP seized 7,858 pieces of Yaba tablets and 37.25kg hemp, 50gm heroin, 85 bottles of Phensedyl, and 70 injectable drugs from their possessions, a DMP statement said.

Being informed, members of Detectives and Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) conducted a 24-hour long raid and detained the drug trades from various places, it also said. 

According to the statement, a total of 29 cases have been filed against the detained persons under the Narcotics Control Act.
