Met office predicts light to moderate rain

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Wednesday (Aug 17) predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at one or two places over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions.

Day temperature may rise slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, said a weather forecast valid for next 24 hours beginning from 9am today 9. 

The land depression over East Madhya Pradesh and adjoining area now lies over Rajasthan and adjoining area as a well-marked low.

The axis of monsoon trough runs through the centre of the well-marked low, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal to Assam across central part of Bangladesh. Monsoon is less active over Bangladesh and weak to moderate over North Bay.

Country's maximum temperature on Tuesday was recorded 36.2 degrees Celsius at Sayedpur while minimum one today was 25.6 degrees Celsius at Kutubdia.

Country's maximum rainfall for the last twenty-four hours till 6am today was recorded 24 millimeters (mm) at Sylhet.

The sun sets at 06:30 PM today and rises at 05:35 AM tomorrow in Dhaka.
