Ex-MP Mohammad Selim passes away Dr Mohammad Selim

SIRAJGANJ: Former MP of Sirajganj-1 constituency Dr Mohammad Selim passed away in London on Thursday.

He was 71.

Dr Selim’s nephew former MP Engineer Tanvir Shakil Joy confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He said the ex-MP died of old age complexity in London while taking treatment there.

MP Selim was the eldest son of national leader Captain M Monsur Ali and elder brother of Awami League (AL) presidium member and also Health Minister Mohammad Nasim.

Dr Selim elected Sirajganj-1 (Kazipur) MP in 1996. He was also an AL presidium member and advisory member.

His family sources said the body will be taken in Dhaka on Saturday morning and the namaz-e-janaza will be held in Parliament building premises.

However, Prime minister Sheikh Hasina mourned the death of MP Selim and expressed profound shock.

In her condolence message, she said in his death the nation has lost an educated, polite, patriotic and veteran leader.

The people of Sirajganj and AL leaders and workers would remember his contributions with deep respect.

The Prime Minister also prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed her deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.

Moreover, district AL president Abdul Latif Biswas and general secretary Abu Mohammad Golam Kibria expressed deep shock of Selim’s death.
