DHAKA: Three officials of the Dhaka Electric Supply Company Limited (Desco) were suspended on charges of embezzling about Tk. 91 lakh by making fake documents of land.  

The suspended officials are Desco executive director (finance and accounts) Rafiuddin, director general (administration) AHM Nurul Huda and manager (training and development) Khandaker Nazibul Alam.  

The authorities suspended the officials temporarily on Monday (March 27).   Insiders of the Desco confirmed the matter to the Banglanews on Tuesday (March 28).

According to the source, the suspended officials were also served show-cause notice. They will be sacked and case will be filed against them if they fail to reply correctly.    

The Desco had taken initiative of purchasing land at Khilkhet in the city to set up a sub-station of the company. The three officials were in the purchase committee and they embezzled Tk. 91, 00000 from the company’s fund by submitting fake documents of land purchase.
