DHAKA: BNP candidate for national elections from Dhaka-4 (Demra-Shyampur) constituency Salahuddin Ahmed came under attack inside a polling center, said his son Tanvir Ahmed Robin.
“(My) father have been stabbed on his feet apart from hitting on various parts of his body,” he said.
“We have found none of our agents while we went for casting votes at Shyampur Model School & College center. At one stage, an attack was carried out on us led by a local rival leader, that left my father injured,” added Robin.
He said his father was admitted to Apollo Hospital following the incident.
Kadamtoli Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Jalil said they (Salahuddin Ahmed and his activists) engaged in a fracas with the supporters of Jatiya Party in front of the polling center, in the morning.
Two Jatiya Party activists have been taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DCMH) as they sustained injuries in the incident, he added.
The OC further said Salahuddin misbehaved with the Presiding officer during the incident.
