JOYPURHAT: Around 500 leaders and activists of BNP and its major ally Jamaat-e-Islami joined ruling Awami League at Panchbibi upazila of Joypurhat district on Saturday noon.

The joining ceremony was held at Panchbibi Municipality Park.

Joypurhat district unit AL president Advocate Samsul Alam Dudu MP, Panchbibi upazila unit AL president Abu Bakar Siddique Mandal and its general secretary and also municipality mayor Habibur Rahman, among others, spoke at the program.

They said that the BNP-Jamaat men joined AL after being inspired by the ideology of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Panchbibi upazila Jamaat leader Abdus Salam and Kusumba union unit BNP leader Firoz Talukdar confirmed the matter to banglanews.
