FROM SHUSHILAN GUEST HOUSE (TIGER POINT): Alamgir Hossain, Editor-in-Chief of the country’s leading online newsportal Banglanews24.com, said although it is very tough to work on tourism in remote areas, Banglanews is doing it with the help of local people and authorities concerned.

He made the remarks while addressing a discussion on tourism titled “Tourism in Sundarbans: Across the country, Around the year” at the conference room of Shushilan Tiger Point guest house in Shyamnagar upazila of Satkhira district on Saturday morning (December 24).

Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation (BPC) Chairman Dr. Aparup Chowdhury was present at the discussion as chief guest.

Alamgir hossain commenced with a welcome speech thanking the guests who are taking part in the discussion. 

He said that Banglanews team has been exploring the Sundarbans areas for quite some time to show tourists the common way in the far-off natural beauty of the country. 

“Banglanews team would not have been able to do the unique work in the area against all odds without the help of the local administration and cooperation of people concerned.”  

“We are discussing on the potential and also problems in this area to send a proposal to the government that will promote tourism here.”

Emphasizing the importance of online news-portal, Alamgir Hossain said, “It is the platform to receive any fresh events instantly. Print media is gradually transforming to online media. We will be left behind in the age of smart-phones and high speed internet, if fails to cope.”

With Alamgir Hossain in the chair, the tourism discussion is attended among others by Head of Forestry and Wood Technology discipline in Khulna University Prof. Dr. Md. Enamul Kabir, Associate Prof of the same discipline Dr AM Feroz, Shushilan Chief Executive Mostafa Nuruzzaman, its president Chandrika Banarjee, Satkhira Press Club President Abul Kalam Azad and Zila Nagorik Committee president Anisur Rahim.

Former Principal of Atarjan Women College of Shyamnagar Ashek E Elahi, Director of Sikandar Abu Zafar Foundation Syed Zunayed Akbar, Manager of Premier Cement Mills Ltd Md. Mosle Uddin and Shyamnagar thana OC Mostafizur Rahman are also present in the event.

Earlier from December 15, Banglanews team has been exploring the three districts of Sundarbans (Bagerhat, Khulna and Satkhira) to produce reports on the prospects and problems of tourism in the areas. The discussion is being held based on those write-ups.

Besides, US-Bangla Airlines, Shushilan, Barsha Resort and Tourism, AFC Health Ltd, Fortis Escorts heart institute, North Western University, Khulna, New Bashundhara Real Estate Ltd and Premier Cement have given their support to organize the event.
