The government will procure soybean oil and sugar of worth Tk 215 crore 10 lakh and 10 thousand for the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB).

Of the amount, Tk 18 crore 30 lakh and 20 thousand will be spent for the purchase of soybean oil while Tk 66 crore 79 lakh and 90 thousand for procuring sugar.   

As a result, the price of per kilogram sugar will be Tk 82.94 while per litre soybean oil will be Tk 146.10.  

Sugar will be bought from a company of Singapore and soybean oil will be purchased from an Indian company.

Soybean oil will be purchased from India's Goven Traders Private Limited (HH Enterprises).

The Cabinet Committee on Public Procurement gave this approval in a meeting chaired by Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal on Tuesday (May 9).
