Unilever’s Sanjiv Mehta due in Dhaka

DHAKA: Sanjiv Mehta, Executive Vice President, Unilever South Asia and MD and CEO of Hindustan Unilever Limited, is set to arrive in Dhaka on Saturday on a four day tour.

He will be meeting the leadership team and managers of Unilever Bangladesh Limited (UBL) to discuss the plans for the Company in 2014.

This is his first visit at UBL since taking on the role of Executive Vice President, Unilever South Asia and MD and CEO of HUL.

He is likely to leave Bangladesh on February 4.

Mehta has been a part of UBL from 1999 to 2006, first as the Company’s Commercial Director and then as the Chairman and Managing Director.

During his tenure in Bangladesh, Mehta played an important role in turning around the business and reigniting the passion for growth by bringing consumers at the heart of every aspect of the business.

His passion for people is also equally well known where he created some great Bangladeshi business leaders, many of whom are now working across Unilever’s global organization.

A chartered accountant by training, Mehta graduated from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India where he was the recipient of Justice SM Shah and UC Majumdar prizes in the final examination of
Chartered Accountancy.

In 2004 he completed his Advanced Management Program from Harvard Business School.

He joined Unilever in October 1992 and has since, very successfully led a number of Unilever businesses across South Asia, South East Asia and Middle East, serving as the Chairman of Unilever Bangladesh, Chairman of Unilever Philippines and Unilever North Africa and Middle East (NAME), before taking on the role in HUL.

During his tenure as the Chairman of Unilever NAME, Mehta led 20 countries in the region, making significant contribution in accelerating both growth and profitability.

He has been instrumental in building leadership talent and strengthening organizational capabilities in all the Unilever businesses he led.
