Gold price slashed again

The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has decided to reduce gold prices again in the local market, just 24 hours after the last adjustment.

The price of 22-carat gold has been reduced by Tk2,822 per bhori (11.664 grams), setting the new price at Tk137,554.

BAJUS announced the new rates in a press release on Tuesday (Nov 26) evening, stating that the revised prices will come into effect from Wednesday.

Under the revised rates, 22-carat gold will cost Tk137,554 per bhori, 21-carat gold Tk131,302 per bhori, 18-carat gold Tk112,546 per bhori, and traditional method gold Tk92,356 per bhori.

BAJUS also noted that the selling price of gold includes a mandatory 5% government-set VAT and a minimum 6% wage set by the association. However, the wage may vary depending on the design and quality of the jewelry.

However, the price of silver remains unchanged in the domestic market.

Currently, 22-carat silver is being sold at Tk 2,578 per bhori. Meanwhile, 21-carat silver is priced at Tk 2,449 per bhori, 18-carat silver at Tk 2,111 per bhori, and traditional method silver is available at Tk 1,586 per bhori.
