Gold prices reach record high of Tk 1.44 lakh per bhori

Gold prices in Bangladesh have surged to a new record, with 22-carat gold increasing by Tk 2,100 to Tk 1,44,890 per bhori (11.664 grams), marking the highest rate ever in the country.

The Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (BAJUS) Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring announced the decision on Saturday, attributing the hike to rising pure gold prices in the local market.

The price of 22-carat gold will now be Tk12,422 per gram, and 21-carat Tk11,857 per gram, according to a press release signed by Masudur Rahman, chairman of the committee.

The price of 18-carat gold has been fixed at Tk10,163 a gram while that of traditional gold at Tk8,357 per gram.

New prices will come into effect on Sunday, the release added.

However, prices of silver remained unchanged.

The price of 22-carat silver is Tk221 per gram, 21-carat Tk210, 18-carat Tk181, and traditional one is Tk136 per gram.
