Gold price hits new record in Bangladesh again

The price of gold in Bangladesh has hit a new record once again, rising by Tk 2,403 per bhori (11.664 grams) to Tk 1,59,027. 

The Bangladesh Jewellers' Association (BAJUS) announced the new price on Thursday (April 10).

The decision was taken by the members of the Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring in a meeting. 

The revised prices will come into effect from Friday (April 11).

As per the new rate, the price of 22-carat gold is Tk 1,59,027. Previously, the highest price of 22-carat gold was Tk 1,57,872.

The price of 21-carat gold has been raised by Tk 2,298 to Tk 1,51,795 per bhori, while the price of 18-carat gold has gone up by Tk 1,971 to Tk 1,30,112 per bhori. The traditional methods has increased by Tk 1,680 to Tk 1,07,344 per bhori.

However, price of the silver remain unchanged. 

The price of 22-carat silver stands at Tk 2,578 per bhori, while 21-carat is Tk 2,449, 18-carat Tk 2,111, and traditional method silver Tk 1,586 per bhori.

According to BAJUS data, the price of gold has been revised 12 times in the past two months alone, reflecting continued fluctuations in the local market driven by the price of raw gold.

On April 9, the price of 22-carat gold was reduced by Tk 1,248 to Tk 1,56,624 per bhori, but that drop has now been reversed by this latest increase.
