The government has increased the prices of salt-applied raw cowhide by Tk 5 per square foot for this year’s Eid-ul-Azha.
In Dhaka, the price has been fixed at Tk 60 to Tk 65 per square foot, while outside Dhaka, it will be Tk 55 to Tk 60.
On the other hand, prices of goat and sheep hides have also been increased by Tk 2. Salted goat hides will be bought at Tk 20 to Tk 22 per square foot, and salted sheep hides at Tk 22 to Tk 27.
Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin announced the new rates at a press briefing at the Ministry of Commerce on Monday (May 25).
He said no cowhide in Dhaka should be bought below Tk 1,350 per piece, while the minimum price outside Dhaka is set at Tk 1,150 per piece.
Last year, the price of salted raw cowhide was fixed at Tk 60 to Tk 65 per square foot in Dhaka and Tk 50 to Tk 55 outside Dhaka. Goat hides were priced at Tk 18 to Tk 20 and sheep hides at Tk 20 to Tk 25 per square foot.
