Jewellers in Bangladesh have reduced the price of gold by Tk1,668, setting the new rate at Tk1,72,860 per bhori (11.664 grams), after a decrease in tariffs on pure gold.
The Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring of the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) made the decision during a meeting held on Tuesday.
According to a press release signed by the committee chairman, Masudur Rahman, the price of 22-carat gold has been adjusted to Tk14,820 per gram, while 21-carat gold now costs Tk14,146 per gram. The price of 18-carat gold has been set at Tk12,125 per gram, and traditional gold at Tk10,031 per gram.
The revised prices will come into effect from Wednesday, as stated in the release.
However, silver prices remain unchanged. The price of 22-carat silver is Tk241 per gram, 21-carat silver Tk230, 18-carat silver Tk197, and traditional silver Tk148 per gram.
