Power agreement with Nepal soon

KUSHTIA: Power and Energy Minister Nasrul Hamid Bipu on Thursday said the government would sign a power agreement with Nepal soon.

“Both countries came to a consensus in this regard. The Nepalese government asked for a draft copy (of the agreement), which will be sent soon and want to know about the process of electricity transmission.”

Bipu made the disclosure while talking to the journalists during his visit to Bangladesh-India 500-kilovolt power generation sub-station in Bheramara of Kushtia.

Nepalese Energy Minister Radha Kumari Gyawali, who was also visited with Bipu there, hoped that India, Bangladesh and Nepal would work together to develop the power sector of Bangladesh.

Nepalese ambassador to Dhaka Hari Kumar Shrestha, district deputy commissioner Syed Belal Hossina, superintendent of police Mofiz Uddin Ahmed, among others, accompanied the minister there.
