BSEC to introduce e-data

DHAKA: Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) has taken an initiative to introduce e-data (electronic financial reporting) under the capital market development project.

Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) managing director Dr Swapan Kumar Bala made the disclosure while exchanging views with the section secretary of commerce ministry Hedayetullah Al Mamoon at ministry’s seminar room on Thursday.

A press release also issued in this regard later.

It added that the meeting was arranged to find out the steps taken as per the ‘Report on Observance of Standards and Codes (ROSC) Bangladesh, Accounting and Auditing 2003’ by World Bank (WB).

Dr Bala also said they have taken an initiative to introduce e-data (electronic financial reporting) under the BSEC Capital Market Development Project-3 that would be started with the help of ADB.

He further said all the companies affiliated to stock exchange will have systems to submit their financial reports and other data so that investors can get economic reports in standard formats.

The system will ensure clarity in reports and accountability, he added.
