BB to supervise bank security Governor Dr Ataur Rahman

DHAKA: Bangladesh Bank (BB) will supervise the security of all scheduled banks. The central bank will also inspect their security systems in this regard.

BB governor Dr Ataur Rahman made the instruction after his arrival at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Wednesday morning.

BB managing director (MD) AFM Asaduzzaman told banglanews that the governor’s order came following the robbery at Ashulia branch of Bangladesh Commerce Bank in Savar, leaving eight people dead.

According to the MD, the governor ordered the central bank officials concerned to take necessary measures in stopping any attempt of robbery or making any bank officials hostage.

The governor, who left Dhaka on April 13, retuned home after meetings with World-IMF officials.
