BD earned $10 crore from software sector

DHAKA: Bangladesh earned a total of US $10 crore from ICT and software development sector in 2012-2013FY.

Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) disclosed the information in a press conference at a city hotel on Saturday.

According to the BASIS, for the first time Bangladesh has exceeded the mark of US $10 crore in ICT sector with a 50 percent of export growth rate.

Meanwhile, the exports in the sector in 2011-2012FY was US $7,80,0000 and the income rapidly rose in 2012-2013FY as it boosted to $101.63 million.  

BASIS President AKM Fahim Mashroor expressed hope the income will touch US $100 crore within 2021 if both public and private efforts go through standardization process.

Information and communication technology secretary Nazrul Islam Khan was presented the press meet as chief guest.
