DHAKA: The number of mobile banking customers of the country reached to 72 lakh.
Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr Atiur Rahman came up with the disclosure while addressing an inauguration ceremony of Mobile Credit Card ‘Swosti’ in a city hotel on Wednesday noon.
The central bank governor said, “It is already proved that mobile banking is suitable to a large number of people in country.”
He added: “A total of 18 banks have launched the programme among 27 banks which got the permission.”
Dr Atiur Rahman also said: “Bangladesh Bank gave new directions to reduce risk in mobile banking...license of the concerned agent will be repealed if evidences of irregularities are found.”
Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) Chairman Dr Quazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad presided over the inauguration ceremony.
