Cabinet approves proposed national budget for FY 2021-22

The cabinet on Thursday approved the proposed national budget for the fiscal year 2021-22.

The budget was approved on Thursday, during a special meeting presided over by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, held at the cabinet room in the Jatiya Sangsad building, sources at the parliament secretariat, said.

Finance minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, planning minister MA Mannan, liberation war affairs minister AKM Mozammel Haque, road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader, law minister Anisul Haq, information and broadcasting minister Hasan Mahmud, foreign minister AK Abdul Momen, among other cabinet ministers and state ministers concerned, attended the meeting, sources at the Parliament Secretariat said.

The finance minister is set to unveil the proposed national budget for the 2021-22 fiscal. He is expected to unveil a Tk 603,681 crore national budget at the parliament at 3:00pm.

It will be the third one of the present Awami League-led government formed through the general election held in December 30, 2018.

The budget would be the country's 50th national and Awami League Government's 22nd budget since the country's independence in 1971.
