Bashundhara City completes 17 years successfully

Bashundhara City stepped into 18th year of operation on Monday as the premium destination for shopping and entertainment in the country.

Officials, staff and shop owners celebrated the anniversary cutting a cake at a function at the shopping mall in Panthapath area of the capital.

A massage of Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan was read out at the function.

In the massage, Ahmed Akbar Sobhan said Bashundhara City has stepped into 18th year of operation after completing 17 years successfully in the passage of time.

“On this remarkable day, I would like to express my gratitude to Almighty Allah. I also thank all shop owners, representatives, staff, former and present officials of the market and Bashundhara family, and well-wishers,” he said.

The Bashundhara Group Chairman said the journey began through implementing the dream of establishing a world-class shopping mall in Bangladesh. “We’ve set the example of ideal business environment through vibrant participation of all. However, our journey was not easy over the years. We’re grateful to you for your support,” he added.

Ahmed Akbar Sobhan expressed the hope that Bashundhara City will keep the current pace of success in the days to come.

Head of Bashundhara Group Sector-A HR Division Saad Tanvir said Bashundhara City has experienced many challenges to maintain an international standard in shopping since its inception. “Efforts to develop the shopping complex were not easy. We want to move forward learning from the past,” he said.

Bashundhara City in-charge Mohsinul Karim said the shopping centre started operation in October 2004 after five years’ work by Bangladeshi and foreign engineers.

“Every person has a dream. However, Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan fulfilled his dream by developing an international standard shopping centre in the country,” he said.

Mohsinul assured that the shopping centre authorities will work based on experience to hold the leading position.

Bashundhara City Shop Owners’ Association President MA Hannan Azad expressed gratitude to the Bashundhara Group Chairman for constructing the world-class market in Bangladesh.

“There’re around 3,000 shops in the complex where 30,000 workers are employed. In terms of livelihood, thousands of families are dependent on the shopping complex,” he said.
