The IUB Football team has clinched the Runner-up position in Men’s Football of the ongoing NSU Inter-University Sports Carnival 2023.

The final match was held on Sunday (September 17) at the the Dhaka Arena field near Kuril in Dhaka.

However, IUB lost to Brac University by a solitary goal.

Saif Mannan Ratul, a student of Human Resource Management at IUB, emerged as the standout performer of the tournament scoring a total of 8 eight goals in the tournament, with back-to-back hat-tricks in the group stage matches. 

In the group stage, IUB defeated Sher E Bangla Agricultural University 4-0. Ratul scored his first hat-trick in this match. Intishar Chowdhury scored the other goal for IUB. In the next match, IUB dominated Green University with a 5-2 victory. Ratul scored yet another hat-trick in this match. Intishar scored one goal in this match.

In the quarterfinal, IUB beat Daffodil International University (DIU) by two goals to one in a nail-biting encounter. Ratul and Intishar scored the two goals for IUB. In the semi, IUB overturned the strong team from the Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTex) by a solitary goal. Once again, Ratul scored for IUB. 

The IUB team was trained by coach Mahbub Manik, a former national level football player.
