Quota reform: Students to rally on campuses tomorrow

Quota reform protesters have now announced campus-wide demonstrations across the country for Friday (July 12).

Students and job seekers are demanding the passage of a law in parliament abolishing discriminatory quotas in all grades of government jobs, and bringing the quotas mentioned in the constitution for backward communities to a minimum level.

Nahid Islam, one of the coordinators of the Anti-discrimination Student Movement, declared the programme on Thursday (July 11) night.

On June 5, the High Court declared the government's 2018 decision to cancel the 30 percent quota for freedom fighters' children illegal following a writ petition. As a result, the 30 percent quota was reinstated.
