Creativity and innovation take center stage at RIoT 6th National Creative Challenge at IUB

The Award Giving Ceremony of the 6th RIoT National Creative Challenge was held on January 14, at the Auditorium of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB). 

Organized by IUB's Center for Industrial Automation Robotics & Internet of Things (RIoT Research Center) and the Taan-Raat Institute of Bangladesh, the event brought together more than 1,100 students from 80 schools and colleges, competing across 12 categories.

The Award Giving Ceremony featured Sharmeen S Murshid, Adviser to the Ministries of Social Welfare, and Women and Children Affairs, as the chief guest. Didar A Husain, Chairman, Board of Trustees, IUB; Prof. M. Tamim, Vice Chancellor, IUB; and Antu Kareem, Managing Director of Pentagon Industries Limited and Advisor to the Taan-Raat Institute of Bangladesh attended as Special Guests.

Sharmeen S Murshid emphasized the importance of critical thinking and innovation in shaping Bangladesh’s future, urging participants to overcome fears and pursue bold ideas. Didar A Husain highlighted the necessity of science and technology for global representation and encouraged students to harness their full potential. Prof. M. Tamim underscored the importance of developing solutions relevant to Bangladesh’s unique challenges, praising the participants for their promising efforts. Antu Kareem stressed the value of fostering creativity and critical problem-solving among young learners.

Participants competed in diverse categories, including robotics, IT, programming, mechanical innovation, science, and digital poster design. In the senior group, Lia Khan from Uttara High School and College became Champion in the Mathematics category and Jashnuva Iffat Alam, from Uttara Girls High School and College, in Biology. Jisan Uddin Jihad and Anika Islam, both from the Nawab Habibullah Model School and College, secured top positions in Chemistry and Physics, respectively.

In the Junior Group, Maisha Sultana from Banani Bidyaniketan School and College excelled in both Mathematics and Biology; Maliha Islam from Monipur High School and College in Physics; and Alvi Raisha Orthi from Ideal School and College in Chemistry.

Other winners included Iftekhar Mahmud Khan from Narayanganj Ideal School in the Robotics Project Showcase; Sara Islam Priya from Viqarunnisa Noon School in Senior Digital Poster Designing; and Abdul Majid from Nawab Habibullah Model School and College in Junior Digital Poster Designing. Wall Magazine and Rubik's Cube competitions also drew significant participation, showcasing creative and analytical skills.

The event was facilitated by Dr. Mohammad Faisal Uddin, Associate Professor of Computer Science and Engineering and Director of the RIOT Research Center, and Dr. Sadia Binte Alam, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. Trustees, faculty members, and special guests toured the project displays, engaging with students and exploring their innovative ideas.

The 6th National Creative Challenge concluded with enthusiastic participation, offering young minds a platform to explore ideas, demonstrate skills, and engage with science and technology for a brighter future.
