The Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested two members of a syndicate for their alleged involvement in stockpiling and unlawfully selling textbooks meant for free distribution to primary and secondary school students.

The detainees were identified as Sirajul Islam, 55 and M Delwar Hossain, 56. 

Muhammad Talebur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of Media and Public Relations Division of the DMP, confirmed the matter.

He said: "Two trucks filled with 10,000 books were also seized during the drive at Banglabazar in the city." 

Further legal action against them is under process, he said, adding DB police are conducting operations to arrest others involved in the hoarding ring.
