4 JU BCL leaders expelled

JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY: Central Chhatra League committee Monday expelled four leaders of its Jahanginagar University unit, including general secretary, for their involvement with clash over having food without paying at the university hall on Sunday.

Office secretary of central Chhatra League committee Sheikh Rasel confirmed the matter to banglanews.

The expelled leaders are, general secretary Rajib Ahmed Rasel, organizing secretary Foysal Hossain Dipu, sports secretary Taj and deputy social welfare secretary Bashirul Haque.

Besides, joint general secretary Rashedul Hasan Rasel was appointed as acting general secretary, he added.

On March 2, at least 24 activists, including one bullet-wounded, of Chhatra League of Jahangirnagar University (JU) unit were injured in infighting over extortion at the university.

Witnesses said the clash erupted when students of Shaheed Salam-Barkat Hall protested having food without paying by students of Mir Mosharraf Hossain Hall.

Later, despite their earnest wishes, Chattra League leaders failed to solve the problem and the students of two the halls locked into a clash, leaving at least 24 Chhatra League men injured, they added.
