IUB welcomes more than 1,000 new undergraduate students for Summer 2025

Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) more than 1,000 new undergraduate students during the Summer 2025 Orientation program on Wednesday (May 22). 

Organized by the Office of Admissions, Financial Aid and International Relations, the event was held at the IUB Auditorium and attended by parents, guardians, university senior management, faculty and administrative staff.

Of the newly enrolled students, 57% are male, 43% female. While 68% of the students come from Dhaka, the remaining 32% represent various districts across the country.

Prof. M. Tamim, Vice Chancellor; Prof. Daniel W. Lund, Pro Vice Chancellor; Prof. Dr. Raisul Awal Mahmood, Dean (Acting) of the School of Business and Entrepreneurship; Prof. Dr. Shah M. Faruque, Dean of the School of Environment and Life Sciences; Prof. Dr. J. M. A. Hannan, Dean of the School of Pharmacy and Public Health; and Dr. Habib Bin Muzaffar, Dean (Acting) of the School of Engineering, Technology and Sciences; and Mona Rahman, Additional Registrar, spoke in the inaugural session. 

Dr. Naureen Rahnuma, Head of the Department of English and Modern Languages, spoke on behalf of the Dean of the School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. Lima Choudhury, Director of Admissions, Financial Aid and International Relations, delivered the welcome remarks. The inaugural session ended with the recognition of merit scholars, who scored top marks in the admission test.

In the second session, there were separate presentations on clubs and extracurricular activities - delivered by Atif M. Safi, Head of the Division of Student Activities; and general and academic support services – delivered by Mona Rahman. 

Priyanka Dey, Assistant Director in the admissions office, moderated the event, which ended with lively performances by IUB Music Club and IUB Dance Club.
