Ramadan vacation begins from Jun 29

DHAKA: All the government and non-government primary, secondary schools and madrasas of the country will enjoy holidays for Ramadan, Shab-e-Qadr and Eid-ul-Fitr from June 29 to August 6.

In an order, Ministry of Education made the announcement on Tuesday.

Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina told the cabinet that all the primary, secondary schools and madrasas of the country should enjoy holidays during the Ramadan.

Sheikh Hasina made the plea with a view to easing sufferings of mothers as they will have to prepare ‘Sahri’ and take and bring back children from schools.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, however, requested the premier to keep the institutions open for the first 10 days of Ramadan.

Hasina, at the cabinet meeting held on June 16, suggested the concerned ministries to make an adjustment of 10 days with the yearly summer vacation for all educational institutions.
