4 JUST students expelled over murder

JESSORE: The Jessore University of Science and Technology (JUST) authorities suspended four students for different terms for their involvement with the murder of Naimul Islam Riyadh.

The decision was taken as the recommendations by the investigation committee of the university.

Of the accused, JUST unit Chhatra League president Subrata Biswas and general secretary Shamim Hasan were expelled for life, first-year student of Environmental Science Department Foysal Tanvir for two years and Physical Education Department student Azizul Islam for one year.

The authorities also upheld the academic council’s decision to keep the campus ‘politics free’.

On July 14, miscreants killed Naimul Islam Riyadh, 23, a fourth year student of Environmental Science Department of the university.

A five-member investigation committee led by Microbiology Department Chairman Dr Iqbal Kabir Zahid submitted their investigation report on September 13 though the committee was supposed to submit it within 15 working days from formation date.

JUST Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Abdus Sattar confirmed the matter to banglanews.
