DINAJPUR: At least 10 activists were injured in a clash between two groups of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) at Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU) on Sunday.

The injured include BCL HSTU unit president Iftekharul Islam Real and general secretary Arun Kanti Roy.

They were admitted to Dinajpur Medical College and Hospital.

Sources said that the two groups locked into clashes around 2:30pm over establishing supremacy on the campus. They also conducted vandalism in the university.

According to the witnesses, on information police rushed in and opened fire nine rounds of rubber bullets and teargas shells to bring the situation under control.

Confirming the matter, Kotwali Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Dipendra Nath said that police made the situation calm within one hour.

However, additional police forces were deployed on the campus to avert any further untoward situation, he added.
