IGP assures SSC examinees of security AKM Shahidul Haque

DHAKA: Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Haque assured guardians of giving overall security to the students of School Secondary Certificate (SSC) examinations.

The police chief came up with the assurance on Saturday as the SSC and equivalent examinations are all set to begin across the country on Monday.

Meanwhile, BNP-led 20-party alliance enforced a countrywide 72-hour hartal, beginning from Sunday, supplemented by their road-water-railway blockade for indefinite period.

Shahidul also urged the political parties, indicating to the BNP –led alliance, to withdraw their blockade and shutdown programs during SSC examinations for the sake of the students’ future.

The Inspector General was addressing a press conference at Police Headquarters in the city in the morning.

Shahidul said that they (police) will arrange all types of security measures, if government decides to hold the examinations due time.

The police boss went on saying the examinees will be given all-out securities, seeking cooperation from teachers, guardians and people from other processionals.

Members of Rapid Action Battalion, Border Guard Bangladesh and Ansar along with police will be deployed to ensure security on streets and at exam centers, he added.

Urging to stop sabotages, Shahidul said all types of destructive activities, bombings, and hit-and-run attacks must be stopped.  Meanwhile, many people who were involved in sabotages have been arrested.

The Police boss claimed sabotage instead of hartal-blockade is now being carried out. All of those involved with the acts of sabotage will be identified and brought to book, he added.

Replying to another query, Shahidul said that cent percent security is possible to provide. As lawmen are giving security, people are coming out of home and performing their daily activities, he added.
