JAMALPUR: President Abdul Hamid on Monday (February 22) asked the teachers and students to use their acquired knowledge for human welfare.

The President also said, “The knowledge you gained through education and experience has to be implemented in a combined manner to keep up with the pace of the world”.

He made this assertion while addressing a reunion program organized to mark the 70 years of Government Ashek Mahmud College as chief guest.

Abdul Hamid further said, “I am the chief of the state but not of the government. The premier, who is the chief of government, can fulfill the demands”.

He, however, pledged about continuing his cooperation to all.

The President also said, “I do not have the luxury to talk freely. I have to speak whatever is written. I do not have the chance to stay close to people. I am confined within the four walls of Bangabhaban”.

The President expressed his satisfaction saying Bangladesh is now self-sufficient in food production.

The state minister for jute and textile affairs Mirza Azam, an ex-student of the college, chaired the function.

Besides, district unit Awami League president Advocate Mohammad Baki Billah, general secretary Faruk Ahmed Chowdhury, Mayor of Jamalpur municipality Shakhawatul Alam Moni, education secretary Sohrab Hossain, local lawmaker Rezaul Karim Hira and Prime Minister’s principal secretary Abul Kalam Azad also addressed the event.
