DHAKA: Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said the verdict for excluding lawmakers from the governing body of any private school and college will be implemented as per Supreme Court (SC) directives.

He came up with the remarks at his office in Secretariat immediately after the SC had upheld a High Court order that illegal the provisions of allowing lawmakers to hold chairman posts of the governing body of any private school and college without elections.

The minister said, “We will impalement the verdict as per Supreme Court direction.”

A four-member Appellate Division bench led by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha issued no order on an appeal against the High Court order this morning.

The HC order scrapping the special body of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College in Dhaka led by Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon has also been upheld.
