DHAKA: The Textbook Festival Day, free textbooks distribution among school and madrasa students, for 2019 academic year is being celebrated across the country on Tuesday (Jan 1).

The distribution of free textbooks kicks off in all the primary schools and high schools of the country with festive mood.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid inaugurated the program at Azimpur Government Girls High School and College in the city around 10 am, by releasing balloons. 

High officials of the education ministry also were present there. 
 
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina formally inaugurated the distribution of free textbooks at her official residence Ganobhaban on December 24.

On the other hand, Primary Mass Education Ministry was scheduled to start distribution textbooks for pre-primary and primary students from Dhaka University's central playground at 11 am.

A total of 352,197,882 crore books will be distributed among the students in all schools throughout the country.
