FENI: Islamic Arabic University (IAU) has scrapped the existing governing body of Feni’s Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa over the death of its student Nusrat Jahan Rafi.

Acting Principal of the madrasa Md Hossain Ahmad confirmed the matter Friday (April 19).  

A five-member ad hoc committee will be formed within next 2/1 days, he said.

On April 6, the suspects set Nusrat on fire after pouring kerosene oil on her, after she had filed sexual harassment complaint against her headmaster Songazi’s Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasha Principal SM Siraj-ud-Daula over sexually harassing her.

On the night of April 10, Nusrat succumbed to her burn injuries while undergoing treatment at the ICU of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), losing battle for life for five days. 

Law enforcers have arrested 14 people till Friday, over the incident.
