DHAKA: Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations, scheduled to begin on April 1, have been postponed in the wake of coronavirus outbreak.

Public Relations Officer of Education Ministry Mohammad Abul Khayer confirmed the news.

A fresh date will be announced in the beginning of the next month, a press release of the ministry said.

The government on March 16, closed all the educational institutions across Bangladesh till March 31, following detection of coronavirus patients in the country.

Bangladesh has so far recorded two deaths and 27 infections from Covid-19, a pandemic announced by the World Health Organization.

The fast spreading coronavirus has claimed more than 13,071 lives and infected 311,894 people across the world, according to Worldometer..
