The next Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations will be held in June 2021 and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and its equivalent exams in July-August.

Education Minister Dipu Moni said it while addressing a virtual press briefing on Tuesday.

"If things go according to plans, SSC exams will be taken in June and the HSC in July-August," she said.

Prior to the exams, a customized syllabus will be prepared for SSC and HSC students, the minister said, adding that classes will be held from February to April for SSC candidates and February to May for HS candidates.

On this year's HSC results, Dipu Moni said: "The results have been prepared and will be published right after passing an ordinance in this regard in the first week of January."

Earlier on October 7, Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni announced that HSC and its equivalent examinations will not be held this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, the results will be determined by averaging the results of Junior School Certificate (JSC) and Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations of students.

All educational institutions of the country declared closed on March 18 this year in wake of Covid-19 outbreak.

Later that closure was extended till December 19 in several phases. No classes have been held since that day.

The education ministry also cancelled final examinations for primary and secondary level students, as well as the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and its equivalent examinations.
