Monjari’s music evening at IGCC

DHAKA: A soiree of Tagore songs by a promising singer Shemonty Monjari will be held at the auditorium of IGCC in city’s Gulshan area.

The soiree, to jointly be organized by Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre in association with Asian Paints, IRCON and Marico Bangladesh, will begin at 6:30pm on February 8.

Shemonty Monjari started her music learning at an early age. She was trained in Rabindra Sangeet at ‘Chhayanaut Sangeet Vidyayatan’ in Dhaka.

She completed her eight-year course in Rabindra Sangeet and stood first class first in the final certificate examination.

She also stood first class first in the national competition on Tagore songs arranged by Jatiya Rabindrasangeet Sammilan Parishad in 2011.

Monjari took training under artists Laisa Ahmed Lisa, Azizur Rahman Tuhin, Shahed Imam, Tania Mannan, Sharmin Shathi Moyna, ATM Jahangir, Rezwan Ali Labhlu, among others.

Monjari has performed in several Rabindra Sangeet concerts both at home and abroad, including in the 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Rabindranath Tagore and the 100th birth anniversary celebrations of Faiz Ahmed Faiz.

No entry pass is needed for the soiree and the audience are requested not to bring bags inside the IGCC during the program.
